A structural engineer appealed a Disciplinary Committee’s decision to uphold a complaint by a member of the public. The complaint related to engineering services associated with earthquake damage to a residential property.
The appeal panel upheld the decision of Disciplinary Committee that the appellant’s engineering services had been below the standard reasonably expected of a Chartered Professional Engineer and that he had acted outside of his area of competence. The panel varied some aspects of the Disciplinary Committee’s penalty orders.
